MPD&Q Global Platform Manager

Ecolab is adding into its portfolio the $1 billion Downstream business.  The Downstream chemical portfolio provides solutions for Refining & Petrochemical process treatments, fuel additives, and water treatment.  Aligning and maintaining a strong quality structure, culture, and optimizing Quality and Process Technologies will play a critical role in the success of the new organization. The Materials, Process, Delivery, and Quality (MPD&Q) group is responsible for leading these continual improvement activities. 

This newly created position will provide global project and portfolio leadership.  The successful candidate will lead global teams to achieve that optimization by combining their knowledge and skills in Quality, process engineering, technology, and analytics.  The location of this role is geographically flexible.  Location options include but are not limited to the divisional headquarters in Naperville, IL, a major production facility in Fresno, TX, or in select overseas locations.   This is a global role and will require local and international travel.

This associate will report directly to the Nalco Water MPDQ Global Platform Director.  This associate will have a dotted line to the Operational Business Leader (OBL) for Downstream.

Location Information: The location of this position is flexible. Ideal candidate could be based out of Naperville, the Houston area (Sugar Land/Fresno) or other larger Nalco Water operations domestically or internationally.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop future global strategies for the key product platform you own, defining improved Equipment and Operational Standards that can optimize future safety, efficiency, quality, and costs.
  • Deployment and roll out of global manufacturing best practices through collaboration with RD&E and regional plants.
  • Support the global planning for capital investments and strategy in all regions with respect to technology systems and platforms.
  • Personally lead large scale projects delivering significant impact for the company.
  • Work with a global team to drive the execution of a portfolio of projects.  The projects in the portfolio will standardize best practices, deliver new technology into the plants, improve OPE, Quality, process capabilities, yield, and profitability.
  • Lead Value Stream mapping exercises at an enterprise level and train others for local deployment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline; engineering preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in technology management role (supply chain engineering, process development, platform management, RD&E, Quality)
  • 3+ years’ experience leading the deployment of process technology projects (new process/product introductions, quality improvements, capital project management, Lean six sigma, APQP, and portfolio management)
  • 3+ years leadership of a product line in a manufacturing / pilot plant environment
  • No immigration sponsorship available

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced technical degree
  • Chemical Engineering or Chemistry background
  • 12+ years’ experience in technology management role (supply chain engineering, process development, platform management, RD&E, Quality)
  • Prior experience manufacturing chemistries supporting Refining & Petrochemical process treatments, fuel additives, and water treatment
  • 3+ years leadership of a product line in a manufacturing / pilot plant environment
  • Background in large project management and direct experience in developing financial justification for investments
  • Experience managing technology for a commercial enterprise
  • Lean Six Sigma Black belt or Master Black belt
  • 8+ years’ experience in a wide range of polymer and chemical processes
  • Significant experience with Value Stream Mapping
