The Engineering Project Manager is a key role within the Engineering & Managed Operations group and is responsible for delivering projects across Nalco Customers in the region.
Responsibilities include performing a variety of project management and engineering tasks related to proposal preparation, system design, project scoping, and execution of water treatment projects. Provide sales support in preparing bids, project development, design, and implementation of new treatment opportunities that will assist Ecolab in growing the business.

Job Overview:
- Management of water treatment projects and customer interface
- Working knowledge of packaged potable, industrial, and wastewater treatment systems & processes
- Responsible for working independently or with project teams to develop and execute projects ranging from modification of existing processes to new systems.
- Performs review of existing conditions at customer locations (plant audits)
- Responsible for in depth understanding of technical issues, developing technical solution to customer, preparing cost proposal and project delivery plan.
- Management of installation and commissioning activities at customer locations
- Ensuring compliance to all project KPI’s; safety, quality, costs and time – reporting into the engineering manager.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with all Nalco Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
- Supporting the sales organization, liaising with customers, sales reps in field and Corporate Account Manager, to qualify and manage new business opportunities from an engineering perspective.
- Co-ordinates project related activities from concept through to handover, linking to suppliers, 3rd parties, procurement, equipment planners and Service Technicians.
- Lead design and execution – commissioning, start up and handover of projects, supervising Service Engineers and contractors as necessary.
- Supports Technical Training of Sales / service staff and customers as required
- Project Management, documentation, planning, organizing, scheduling work, budget control and communication with all parties involved (Customer / Sales / Internal Departments / 3rd parties)
- Ensures all projects are completed to a high-quality standard
- Ability to manage own and sub-contractor workloads and priorities whilst maintaining project delivery schedule.
- Generate monthly reports on project status and activities to Engineering Manager
- Generate technical documentation, CE compliance certificates.
- Supports technical help desk queries from field-based staff.
Key competences:
- Competency in engineering; degree qualified or specific technical education – chemical, mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation, environmental engineering.
- 5 years of relevant project management experience with emphasis in implementation of water treatment systems and technology
- Practical experience with variety of water treatment system design and operation
- Have a good knowledge of mechanical, piping, electrical, materials and their compatibility with most common chemicals and specialties;
- Be familiar with control & monitoring instrumentation, remote and local modes;
- Have knowledge of ATEX requirements and awareness of Hazop norms;
- Awareness of most used international standards and norms required for equipment construction and certification
- Excellent technical communication skills are required, written and verbal (Spanish and English)
- Flexible to travel 50% working time
